The topics range from the European debate over authenticity in architecture and the differing visions of its primitive origins, as various exemplified in the Greek and Etruscan antecedents, to Soane’s own engagement with Piranesi through his architectural designs and drawings of Paestum, to he influence of Piranesi early American architecture and urban planning.
